Early History in Honley
The early history of Brooke Lodge starts in Honley in 1910 where local Brothers met and discussed the possibility of establishing a Lodge in Honley.
These discussion continued through to the Tuesday 9th January 1912 when a meeting was held at the Coach and Horses Hotel in Honley. The meeting was charied by W. Bro. J. E. Heap Bro. H. Marsden was elected Secretary pro tem, and was duly instructed to perform all necessary tasks for and behalf of the Bretheren.
The resulting application for a Petition was forwarded to W. Bro. H. G. E. Green (Provincial Grand Secretary) on the 6th February 1912. The Petition included details of how and when meetings would be conducted; The proposed date for the regular lodge meeting is the first Tuesday in the month. To this day, Brooke Lodge meets on the first Tuesday in the month.
On the 24th May 1912 the Provincial Grand Secretary wrote to Bro H. Marsden informing him that the Most Worshipful Grand Master had been please to grant a Warrant for a new Lodge to be names "Brooke Lodge and to be numbered 3608".
